She tells herself it's only a little bit more, following the shifting trails of sand amidst these windless lands. She will make it, even without Reiner by her side.[break][break]

One can tell this isn't the first time she's done this. No amounts of injuries or pain will stop her from doing what she's set her heart upon. No one that can truly stop her, even with their logic and fears. Instead they are dragged along for the ride; Sometimes unwillingly, oftentimes for peace of mind.

Mist clings to the desert. There should be no mist in the desert. Everything here thirsts. The ground longs for water. Creatures moving across its terrain seek out water. Many die for the stuff. All the same, there is mist. As the young girl treks across the desert, Regirock sees her. Its many orange eyes turn upon her, suddenly glowing with renewed purpose. Its footsteps shake the earth. This manmade godkiller has decided Eris Halla is her enemy.[break][break]
Alone, it would be an impossible fight. She does not fight alone. Standing on a high rock, perched like a guardian angel, stands a man. In his left hand is a sword, a blade of promised victory. By his will, the blade begins to twist. Soon, it seems less a sword and more a long, glowing blue arrow. What a strange power. In his other hand, he conjures a bow. He takes aim…[break][break]
The arrow hits the titanic monolith with the force of an aura sphere, making it recoil and take a step back. Eris’s phantom helper doesn’t know Regirock’s storied history, but he doesn’t need to. Anything can be taken down. A hero returns to slay giants.

[attr="class","eris109"]No matter how far she runs, no matter how hard she tries to hide, the mist is ever present in her life. Perhaps, as a sign of their vow to protect her. Perhaps, as a promise that she isn't alone in this.[break][break]

His arrow strikes true, buys her time to reaffirm her decisions as she unlatches a pokeball from her belt. Unlike him, she does not possess the power to strike at a giant with her own two hands. That power lies in the hands of her companions. In this case, a Doublade with red ribbons wrapped around her wrists and a young illumina Skarmory that seeks to guide her advance.[break][break]

Slowly, step by step. Even as the uneven sands seek to trip her up, she begins to pick up the pace. She runs, frost emanating from beneath her every step. And from the curling wisps of the unending mist, a whistle carves a frosted steed into existence. One that she'll pull herself onto as it races past her side. Others would call a head-on charge like this suicidal, but between it beelining for her with a wound-up punch or her reaching it first to take that swing, she'd much rather prefer this method.[break][break]

Recovery from the initial strike does not take long. And it is rather fast for a creation as big as it is, each punch swung with utmost precision and extreme prejudice. Thankfully, Arkyn is an agile little thing, his ghostly blue patterns drawn through the skies as he flies circles around the rock titan. As it swings and misses, a barrage of icicles are launched right at it, each sharpened to a point as they relentlessly crash into its side.

“…huh.” The ghost murmurs. She pulls out three impressive Pokemon. “That’s where that one went.” All of the chicks finally left the nest. Four are accounted for now. Where the fifth goes, he doesn’t know. She pulls out swords, and a Glastrier identical to his own Slow Dancer. He wonders how there can be so many of Calyrex’s legendary steeds. It’s a pointless question for better men than he. All he can think about is the way the giant spins about above her.[break][break]
“Huh. What was the word that one knight said in that movie I watched with Shred?”[break][break]
“SANCTUM!” There’s the word. As Regirock threatens to land a strike that will not go wide, a massive shield pierces the desert sands in front of Eris. This king’s shield, called Prydwyn, sends Regirock’s fist back with a loud clang that reverberates across the desert for miles.[break][break]
“Come on, Eris. Show me how you’ve grown.”

[attr="class","eris109"]In her entire time of being, Nature has made countless attempts upon her life. And yet, none of them have succeeded. And her death upon this day too, shall not come to pass.[break][break]

The barrier holds strong against Regirock's rage. Once again, the giant stumbles as it is left wide open, but it is by no means a creation that she can simply run over and trample. The press of her heel alters Asfaloth's path, the foul-tempered frost whinnying as they race and weave their way through the titan's legs.[break][break]

In an instant, the sun no longer gazes upon her. Sand and crumbling rocks rain down on her head, her grip upon Jack's blades loosened as she dares to trace the scratched surface of the golem. And as her palm glides over sharp edges of crystal and stone, she leaves a faint trail. Pink energy that clings to each and every fragment that makes up this Regirock.[break][break]

Her knight makes this job far easier, sworn to the duty of which their king has provided them. Cold steel drawn against living earth, they combine forces and cleave the jagged stones that launch at them from under their feet.[break][break]

Chiselled hooves stomp and crush whatever else he misses. Asfaloth does not balk at the possibility of being pierced through that pristine white belly, only knows and craves the victory to be held over Regirock's corpse. One round around the raging creation, then another. There is much distance to cover, but the Glastrier is nothing if not stubborn as they crash on through.[break][break]

As the trio begin to clear the titan's shadow, that open palm that has grown to know the coarseness of grain and stone clenches tight. There ignites a child's vague hope and wishes in a brilliant spark of red, an unyielding chain woven into being around the titan's legs.

She launches her chain, and he smiles. It is a brave thing to stand defiant in the face of gods – braver still to stand as a spark against the darkness. Eris Hala defies her fate, and for that he is grateful. Too many in these trying times fall beneath the waves, or allow the world to dictate their ebb and flow.[break][break]
“Come on, Eris. Keep it up. You’ve got this.” The Warrior takes to a knee, bow in hand. These shots would prove impossible, were it not for his magnetic power. Metal is pulled, twisted, held strong. Across the desert, he feels her chain as if it is an extension of his own arm. Though he keeps his distance, he imagines his arms there with her, holding the chain, adding his strength to hers. Regirock struggles with all its might. Two humans are nothing before the power of an automaton.[break][break]
Yet still, they pull. They pull until his body, sleeping in the proper order of things, spouts a fresh spray of blood from a freshly reopened wound. In that there and then, Hattori scrambles to staunch the bleeding. As Eris and her guardian angel struggle, a second Skarmory joins her. This one flies into the face of the monstrous Regirock. Tiny explodes in a burst of light, blinding the rock with a spotlight of promised victory.

[attr="class","eris109"]She can hear the red chain creaking, slowly slipping from her grip, hungrily cutting into her flesh. Her heart wishes for many, many things, pushes her to go far. And yet instinctively, she knows her body doesn't have the power to take on this burden. Regirock is a titan that cannot be brought to its knees just because she wills it. Blessed by legends as they may be, this giant was made to destroy gods far beyond their station.[break][break]

It is human's folly to try regardless. The warmth that trails her already rosy skin is kind, ever watchful even though he is far beyond her reach, ever helpful as she attempts to do what isn't meant to be done. Lights to rival the unsetting sun burst overhead, the Regirock reeling back at the sudden, overwhelming sight. As its body begins to totter backwards, Asfaloth steadily keeps his pace, running in the opposite direction with a rein of red chains.[break][break]

And just to give it that one last push, Arkyn flies high up into the sky, far beyond the wrathful reaches of the titan. Then he begins to fall, an iridescent blue trail burning in his wake as he dives right down towards Regirock.

“Hmm…” Her Skarmory is beautiful, a link to him, a promise that he’ll always come. The more he thinks on the strange circumstances of his projection, he more he realizes that the bird is what allows him to venture here, to a land millions of miles away from Hoenn.[break]
So, he closes his eyes. He focuses. Arkyn is the child of Ironsides, a child of Ascalon. The steel in his hand twists again, kneads itself, shrinks into an arrow of pure light. Drawing back his bow, he aims it high. The weight is all wrong. There’s no way it’ll fire…[break]
Yet it does. Ascalon flies high into the sky, guided by his powers. It soars and reaches its apex just as the Skarmory does. As it dives, so too does Ascalon dive. Two streaks of blue come crashing down like twin comets from the void.

[attr="class","eris109"]Never alone. Though her world has been set ablaze and torn asunder, there are fragments to be picked from the ashes, flowers that will bloom from the ruins. Promises that are made in exchange for those that have been forcefully broken.[break][break]

This too, is a promise. A shooting star streaking across the sky, even though human faith may fall short. Just like every other star she watches trail the sky, she closes her eyes and pulls her hands together, whispering a wish from the bottom of her heart as miracles descend upon the earth.[break][break]

First comes a hushed crack, a wound carved into the golem's surface. Then grows, a web of flaws spreading over its body as both Arkyn and Ascalon burrow deeper and eventually pierce through.

“Way to go, kiddo.” He finds himself weary. Sitting on the hot rocks under this merciless sun, he watches how this battle unfolds. Regirock has been pierced. If it is anything like its Hoennian counterpart, and the archer believes it is, it will rebuild. Even still, she has taken for herself a victory. There’s cause for triumph.[break][break]
Navy is not long for this place. He has never been here, tethered by the glowing blade that has bonded with Eris. Rest calls for him. Avalon beckons. He fights its pull for just a little while longer. It pains him, being unable to approach closer, unable to offer true help without forcing an awkward conversation and a sudden departure.[break][break]
Even still, it’s not so bad, being a guardian angel.
